If someone leaks GTA VI before launch, Rockstar may know exactly who did it. That’s the claim longtime games writer ManaByte posted on X on October 27.
The claim
According to ManaByte, GTA VI review copies are watermarked: the reviewer’s name apparently flashes on screen. If any footage gets out, Rockstar would see exactly whose copy it came from.
He says that reviewer or outlet would then be blacklisted from every future Rockstar release. His explanation for the strict approach: the GTA VI leaks really spooked Rockstar.
Notebookcheck also reported the claim.
Not confirmed
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any of it. What is confirmed: GTA VI launches November 19.

It isn’t the only unconfirmed claim about review copies. A day earlier, insider NateTheHate said review code is going out to the media, with a review embargo on November 18. That hasn’t been confirmed either.
This story gets an update, with a date, if Rockstar responds.
GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-load opens November 12.
